Volunteer Appreciation Day 2005

Augusta South/Armed Services YMCA,
Augusta, Georgia

A group of twenty-five representing the Augusta South / Armed Services YMCA staff, Men Making A Difference community service organization and the BOSS program spent a Saturday afternoon visiting and interacting with the residents of the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home.  Although rewarding to see the appreciative smiles of the men and women visited, it was also a poignant reminder of the need for attention, care and respect for these national heroes.  The Armed Services YMCA and the BOSS program will plan a monthly community outreach activity for the Soldiers to reach out to their temporary community of Augusta.

Care Package Drive 2006
During the months of November and December 2006, the Fort Gordon BOSS Program sponsored a post-wide care package drive. BOSS Reps placed special donation boxes, along with a list of acceptable items for donation, at their respective units and challenged their fellow Soldiers to support by way of competition with other units. The event culminated at the Armed Services YMCA in Augusta, where volunteers dedicated their free time to prepare the packages for shipment.
