Mr. Gaines is the Director, Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation at Fort Gordon.  In this capacity, he oversees all quality-of-life programs that directly support readiness by providing a variety of community, soldier, and family support programs, activities and services.  Included in FMWR are social, fitness, recreational, educational, and other programs and activities that enhance community life, foster soldier and unit readiness, promote mental and physical fitness, and generally provide a working and living environment that attracts and retains quality for soldiers, family members, retirees and its civilian workforce

Career Highlights

Mr. Gaines spent 20 years on active duty and served in a wide variety of MWR assignments at the base level, major command, and Headquarters U.S. Air Force.  He commanded MWR units at the flight, detachment, and squadron level.  He deployed six times and commanded an expeditionary MWR unit during OPERATION’s Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.  Prior to his current assignment, he was the Chief, Armed Forces Entertainment.  In this capacity, he led a multi-million dollar Department of Defense organization providing quality entertainment to military personnel and their families living overseas. 


Mr. Gaines
graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.  He holds a Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Science degree in Sports Administration from Eastern New Mexico University.  His military education includes Air War College, Air Command Staff College, and Squadron Officers School. 

Awards and Honors

Mr. Gaines was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2004.  His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medals, Air Force Commendation Medals, Air Force and Army Achievement Medal.  Mr. Gaines is certified as an Air Force Smart Operations Black Belt Facilitator.

Mrs. Grubb is the Management Analyst for the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Gordon, Georgia.  She works very closely with the Director of FMWR and the five Division Chiefs to provide support and ensure FMWR fulfills our commitment of excellence to our customers and team members as designated in the employee and customer covenants.  This includes exceeding our customer’s expectation with exceptional service, and ensuring the Fort Gordon FMWR workforce of approximately 500 have timely performance reviews with clear performance standards.  Mrs. Grubb has purview over all FMWR requirements and actions, and she is responsible for ensure all FMWR suspenses are communicated and completed timely.  She takes the initiative to review current regulations and policies and facilitate updates when necessary.  In addition, she serves as an involved member of the Recreation Delivery Team, and she holds an active role in all special events.

Career Highlights

Mrs. Grubb was promoted from the Management Assistant to the Management Analyst in 2012 for taking on expansive roles for the Directorate which focused on continued FMWR success and growth.   Prior to working with Family & MWR, Mrs. Grubb spent 11 years after college working as an accountant and financial advisor.  She worked with a variety a companies and business professionals to manage income, expenses, payroll, taxes, and investments along with planning for each clients long term goals. 

Education and Special Skills

Mrs. Grubb graduated high school in 1994 from Londonderry High, New Hampshire with honors for her roles in the honors society and mathematics team. She then attended Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee for two years earning the equivalent of an associate’s degree, during which time she served as the manager for the women’s basketball team.  In 1998, she completed the certified tax preparer course.  She is proficient in multiple software applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, ACT, Real World Accounting Software, Microsoft Money, Quicken, DCPDS), and she has the ability to learn new software quickly and easily.  She is extremely detailed oriented with excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Awards, Honors, and Volunteer Work

Mrs. Grubb was awarded the Volunteer of Distinction Award in 2012 for her work as a Girl Scout Troop Leader with the Fort Gordon, GA Girl Scout Troop (2008-current).  She was also awarded the Commander’s Award for Public Service in 2010 for her volunteer work with the 369th FRG and the Girl Scouts.  Her focus on customer service earned her the Garrison Commander’s Certificate of Appreciation in 2011.

Mrs. Stanley is the current Chief of Fort Gordon Army Community Service (ACS).

Career Highlights

Mrs. Stanley has worked as a social worker for the Department of the Army for almost 28 years.  During this tenure, she has worked in Preventive Medicine, Department of Social Work- Discharge Planning and Family Advocacy Program, Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program, and Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.   She has served as the Director of Army Community Service overseas at Camp Zama, Japan and at Fort Gordon.  At Gordon, she has led her team of professionals to be recognized for their expertise, programming, and customer service through accreditation, credentialing, and multiple “best practice” designations.  This two million dollar operation is housed in six satellite locations on the installation - (four office suites in Darling Hall, SFAC, and the Family Outreach Center.)

Mrs. Pondy has been the Chief of Business programs for the past 12 years.  She provides leadership to the following programs, Gordon’s Conference and Catering, Gordon Lanes Bowling Center (Kegler’s Sports Bar & Kegler’s Snack Bar), Gordon Lakes Golf Course (Bogeys Grill), Bingo Palace (Jack Pot Café), The Courtyard Community Center, Teresa’s Mexican Restaurant, Me Me’s and Bo Bo’s Chinese Restaurant, Huddle House, Dominos Pizza, Java Express, Java Fitness, Java Café Too!, Java Café at Signal Towers, Java Escape Community Center, Game Link Gaming  Concessionaire, Gordon Duplexes,  and is an active member of the RDS Team.    Prior to FY14 took the lead for the past 12 years for all outdoor special events, managed the Fort Gordon Recycling Program, and the Fort Gordon Entertainment Program to include the Performing Arts Center.

Mrs. Pondy is recognized by IMCOM as running the most successful Business Programs in the Army with several number one programs to include, Largest Bingo Program, Best Catering and Lunch Program, Best Bowling Program, Best Entertainment Program, and the number one Army Golf Course according to  We have the most diverse Food and Beverage programs in the Army which offers a variety of food choices to satisfy the diverse customer base of Fort Gordon which includes many concessionaire operations. 

Mrs. Pondy started her career at Fort Hood Texas in 1984 as a Military Club Manager.  She graduated at the top of her class in basic training as a SSG, in the Stripes for Skills Program.  She spent the next 4 years   managing a variety of clubs to include Officer’s, NCO, Enlisted, and Community programs.  In 1990, she transferred to Fort Gordon to start her next leg of her career.
Prior to her position as Business Chief, she managed a variety of Food and Beverage facilities on Fort Gordon from July 1990 until her promotion in 2002. 


Mrs. Pondy graduated from Brenau University with a Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1994.  She received her undergraduate degree from Valdosta State University in 1982 with a BBA in Finance and a minor in Accounting.

Career Highlights

Ms. Wesley began her career in CYSS in Stuttgart, Germany as one of the first Education Technician's. She noticed the advancement opportunities and her love for children would provide her a career in the Early Childhood field. She has worked for CYSS for 22 years. She has worked as a CDC and FCC director, CYSS Transition Specialist and CYSS Administrator. She spent 8 years working at IMCOM- Europe Child & Youth Services in Heidelberg, Germany. She conducted unannounced annual inspections to over 22 garrisons throughout Europe to ensure policies were correctly implemented.  She is known for her accreditation knowledge and expertise to make certain that quality is held to the highest standards. She spent the past 6 years at Fort Riley, Kansas where she overseen the opening of 6 child development centers, 


Ms. Wesley graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a focus in Early Childhood Education.

Personal Life

Ms. Welsey is married to Claude Wesley her high school sweetheart. They have been married for 34 years and is from Kansas City, Mo. She has 2 sons Travis and Tyreke. Tyreke is married to Shakeira and they have a son name Tyson. She is a great mentor and enjoys assisting staff in meeting their career goals.

Ms. Joyner is the DFMWR Chief of Recreation at Fort Gordon.  She oversees a dynamic and diverse Division including Special Events, Entertainment, Sports, Fitness and Aquatics, Gordon Car Care, Hilltop Riding Stables, Pointes West Army Resort, Tactical Advantage Sportsman’s Complex, Warrior Adventure Quest/Get Outdoors Gordon, and Woodworth Consolidated Library.  The Recreation Division is devoted to providing creative and healthy opportunities for the Soldiers and larger community we serve to build true health and positive well-being.

Career Highlights

Ms. Joyner began with Fort Gordon as a GS Civilian Intern in 2003 at Woodworth Consolidated Library. The Library was part of the Directorate of Human Resources at that time.  In 2004, the Library Director retired, and Ms. Joyner spent her last year of internship serving as the Interim Library Director. In 2005, the Library moved under DFMWR and in 2006 Ms. Joyner was appointed permanent Library Director.  Ms. Joyner was instrumental in reviving the Library program and building it into an award winning, vital part of the community. On 4 March 2013, Ms. Joyner began serving as the Acting Chief for the Recreation Division. On 7 October, 2013 Ms. Joyner was selected as the Chief, Recreation Division.

graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and from the University of South Carolina with a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science, Masters Certificate in Museum Management, and Specialist Degree in Education.

Mrs. Olds is the Chief of the Support Services Division of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (DFMWR) at Fort Gordon.  In this capacity, she oversees all the support elements that facilitate the operations of all aspects of Family and MWR. She also has oversight for the Garrison Recycling Program. In this capacity, she leads the marketing and advertising of all programs and facilities, the technical support for all hardware and software used within the Directorate, the grounds and maintenance of all facilities to include any construction, and the financial oversight to include monthly financial statements and annual budget preparation. She is an active member of the Recreation Delivery Team and serves as a mentor to others within the organization.    

Career Highlights

Mrs. Olds began her career as part of the Marketing team at Davis Monthan Federal Credit Union in Tucson, AZ. Upon her graduation from college, she began working as a staff accountant for a full service CPA firm. She continued progressing until she became a senior accountant and their human resources officer. She worked with a variety of companies (primarily in the food service industry) and assisted in their business development, accounting, planning, valuation and tax preparation. In 2007, she moved to Fort Gordon, GA where she was hired at Gordon Lakes Golf Course as a sales attendant. She quickly progressed into the Business Operations office and by 2009 was the Financial Management Director for Family and MWR. In 2011 she was promoted to her current position of Chief, SSD. Since that time, she often filled in for the Director FMWR and acted in that capacity when he was not available. In December 2013, she was temporarily promoted into the DFMWR position until a replacement Director was brought on board.   


Mrs. Olds graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting and Finance. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree through the University of Phoenix. Her DoD based education includes courses from the Civilian Education System and the Installation Management Academy School for Family and MWR.
